Can anyone tell me about their experience at Americade in Lake George, NY?

I'm trying to talk some friends of mine in going with me. It will be our first experience. I know they read this forum.

If you think it will be a good expereince, can you help me shame them into it by sharing?

I have not been to all of the major rallies (Americade, Laconia, Myrtle Beach, Daytona, and Sturgis), but I went to Americade this year and thought it was very organized. Had a great time. Did not take advantage of the demo rides and will do so next year.

From what I've heard it is the tamest of all of them, so I think it is a good choice for your first one.

I'm going to MB in a few months to compare. If I like MB, I'll plan for Sturgis on 09

Years ago... back in my Goldwing days... I went to Americade. At that time they didn't allow Harley vendors. It was all Japanese touring bikes... Primarily Goldwings... that had to be 95ish... It was nice... as stated... well organized. Upstate New York is some really nice riding country.

Yup, started out being called the Aspencade after the Honda tourer of the day and was an event for "Wing Nuts". It was renamed Americade a few years later and opened up to all brands. Lake George clamped down on their noise ordanance a few years back and a number of bikers added to the town's coffers but I think that was a one time deal.

Have gone every year for the last 10 or so years. All the manufacturers and major vendors are there. Most of the manufacturers offer demo rides, including HD. If you want to ride an HD, you stand in line and wait for a demo rider to return, you jump on and off you go by yourself, following the designated route set up by HD. Many of the vendors have installation available right there. 10 to 15 design and paint vendors. Lots of great speakers, MC related classes, cruises, tours through the adirondecks, etc. And best of all, the 1 percenters stay home.

Americade is 45 minutes north of our shop, it has come a long way over the last ten years. Agreat place to ride and party. Numerous vendors doing tires, seats, pin stripping, dyno work and just about anything else bike related. If you want to stay local (in Town) you had better make reservations soon. If they are sold out there is a place called Browns Motel just south og Lake George that is a well kept secret. Hop this helps. By the way if you break down near there we will pick up and deliver your bike at no charge except for the repairs, we want you to keep riding. Any qiestions Pm me.

Went to Americade for the first time this year with my son - I only live about 200 miles away. Had a good time pretty well controlled - allot of vendors. Great area for riding. Good parking for your bike. If you need a motel - reserve now. I was fortunate to be able to stay at my son's friends camp about 25 miles from Lake George.

Have been at Myrtle beach 2 times - allot of riders (must bring in at least 200,00 people if not more for the event) and allot of traffic. Must be very careful as you always are - some forget that alcohol and riding do not mix too well. Allot of vendors at the major malls and Harley dealer - good place to purchase mike parts and clothing. The Harley rides were at the Convention Center - HOG members had free access to the convention center activities.

I go to Americade every other year. It is one of my favorites. There is a lot to do butit is a good idea to sign up a head of time. If you like to ride, there is great roads and they have guided tours with meals. The people are good, it is very organized, and there are tons of different bikes there, Harleys, gold wings, and BMWare the most common. If your looking for somewhere to party the other major ralleys are better but if your into riding it is a good time. It is called a touring rally so the only trailers you see are the ones pulled behind bikes.
