I am having trouble understanding motor mount problems.
79B, 79C, 79D etc. How is it some motor mounts last for
years and others only last for weeks. 79D is the latest
and yet someone needs to change it out with only 2100 miles.
What gives?
I know someone out there has a theory on whats going on
can you please share it with me.
Thanks in Advance.
Glen
The older motor mount, like my 2001 Road king went out around 20000 miles. The torque setting was 38- 45. My SG 07 torch is probably the D mount and is 18-20 torque.
The goal of the mount is no bike shake and last long. The new mount I think is hard and shakes more. I have 10k on my SG and don't know how long the mount will last.
Harley is having hard timeto get both worlds. I may put in an after market mount thats comeing out by Glide-Pro.
If I would get 30k mile and smooth I'd be please or even change mount at 25k I'd be ok myself.

When I replaced mine, the new one twas made in China. I'm betting some had cheaper rubber or poorer quality control while others didn't
Thanks pete I'll look into Buel mount. My fairing shakes a little 1800 to 2200 r's. Mount is ok, fairing brackets ok, maybe you 've got good idea. My cousin 03 RK screaming eagle mount went out, put in the new one they gave hime at dealer, he did'nt like the new little more shake, tryed to buy a few old ones and could'nt get any.
If your original '06 mount is not broke, don't change it! The new version will add more vibration and shake to your ride.
I went the the Buell mount, much better.
