Default EGC WINTER MOD'S!

Well I am a bit of a newbie, but I have gained such useful information from this site it is awesome. I have my 2006 Vivid Black EGC up on a sears red jack I got 3 weeks ago for $59 - what a great jack for the price! (So Far) I am kinda Street Gliding it out, but not all the way. I wanted to share what I am doing as well as give profs to the HD Forums for what I have learned so far -

It really sucks living in upstate NY if you ride!! But this is my home and I also love to hunt and sled so we get through. Working on the bike through the winter in the heated garage keeps me happy!!!!

First I stripped the chrome guards from the rear saddlebags and have installed just the single chrome support under the bag. I decided on this look from bikes I have seen here - really got to see alot of different looks.........

I pulled the rear wheel (Bald Tire @ 9k -Stock Harley with some good burnouts on it-) and Installed a Metzler MME 880 140/90 16 Blackwall. Got it from americanmototire.com - no one could beat their price to my door.

While the rear wheelwas off, I changed out the Brake Pads (ESA? from an HD Dealer), Rear Light Bar with the HD Short Bar, Installed an under the light Plate Mount(J&P), a laydown rear tail light(J&P) and removed the bumper. Cleaned and polished everything. Didn't note the orientation of the old pad's and had to callDaryl at Stan's HD in Batavia NY to get me the info. Can't say enough about the good people at that dealership! I learned I needed to scuff up the brake disk from you folks.

I have pulled the stock exhaust system with my V&H Basic Slip ON's, and am still pricing a D&D FatCat to replace. (Yes Bart has sent me a quote) I have read much on the Fat Cat on this forum. I kept swaying towards true duals, but have decided otherwise. I only have a stock 88 with a SE Air Cleaner and PCIII, so theFat Catswill be fine. Going with the louder baffle!

Tonight I dropped the front wheel, because now that I have changed out the rear, and even though the front tire is still good, I can't have a whitwall up front and a blackwall in the back! Just doesn't look right. Thought I would wait to change it until I needed to but can't get past the mismatch. Need to order another tire tomorrow.

I also rewired my Passing Lamps hot all the time - learned how to do that here! Thanks.

So heres some cool sh>>t- I had a set of Vivid Black Lowers I was going to sell on e-bay - I don't use them much and could use the cash for new stuff I want. I had on my project list to install Hog Tunes speakers. I saw an ad here for PEZ needing lowers to make displays for his new lower fairing speakers, so I e-mailed him to see if would dosome kind oftrade with my lowers and he agreed - I can't wait to get the Hog Tunes stuffand install it this week. (Details of the trade not to be discussed!)

Along with the Hog Tunes, I will be installing my SERIUS on the bike. This will be a great add.....I love the BUZZSAW and HAIR NATION! I'll get a bracket machined at work for it, will be installing it on my left perch and run the wires into the fairing along the clutch cable.

Tonight I also cleaned up all the chrome on the front end and removed the front bumper.

So, still to be done.......swap out front tire and reinstall with new brake pads, install Serius, install pipe and remap PCIII, install HogTunes, maybe smaller passenger footpags, lot's of new chrome stuff from HD, and ?????????

I'll post a few pic's when done.
