My 02 does it to all the gauges on the dash but what has been happening is the inside of the glass has spider webbing cracks forming, i think it's in our water up here
Yep, my valuable "air temp" gauge fogs up when it gets cold or rainy. I'm going to ask my Chevy dealer what he would do for me if a gauge on my Avalanche fogged up. I think he would be replacing it. Strange we don't hold HD to the same level.
The gauges are not totally sealed. They have vent holes in the back of them. That is why they fog up.
Ya know, come to think of it the speedo dial on my Roadstar was water/moisture tight. I wonder why H/D didnt do it. Their fogging gauges seems kind of cheezy, but w.t.f, I love the S/G anyhow!
I think that all of the non sealed fog up on occassion, mine does, I live at the beach and any time I leave my bike outside in the early evening the guages are fogged up, I ride it into the garage and the next morning , it is all better after the sun is around for a while anyways..
I noticed a while back after washing my S/G the first time that the gauges had moisture on the insid eof the lens. Thinking of what happened to a few wrist watches from moisture I got worried and called the dealer. They said moisture inside the gauges is normal and not to worry about it. Since than I ignored it and every time I wash the bike it happens, than after a while it goes away. I was just wondering if this occurs on your bikes and if the dealer was snowing me or not to avoid warranty.
The standard answer
I had the swing arm fall off of my bike and it tore the entire wiring harness out from the fairing on back. After I got outa the hospital, I called the dealer to see if that was covered under the warranty and how to fix it. You know it, he said that was normal and not to worry about it, but it wasn't covered. 8-)
