I had my lower fork sliders and upper slider covers powdercoated for $110 total to give you an idea. Most of the cost I'm told comes from the preparation (i.e. if they were chrome as opposed to raw, painted, etc.) Also depends on what pieces you are talking about.
I've had stuff powdercoated for my chopper and it was very easy and I thought very reasonable. I just took in a box with the parts I wanted done, and came back a week later and picked up a box of all black parts. It's a nice way to go.
I just did a bunch of stuff. All of it was factory chrome to start with. The list included:
Crash Bar
Floor boards
Rear fender strut covers
Rear push bar
Saddle bag support rails
Front blinker mounts
Front axle covers
I got all of this done for $75. I got a really good deal because the shop I use is always doing gloss black. They have some kind of weekly commercial order and threw my parts in with it. They came out pretty good. A little cloudy, but I have since used some Meguiars polish on them and they look great now.
The majority of the cost on powder coating is driven from the labor. Amount of prep time and masking needed will determine how expensive the work is. The more prep the better the quality. If you're starting with parts that are in excellent shape, it will help also.
There is a forum member that has a powder coating business. He also has a site with costs listed by part. Do a Member list search for powdercoater. He's a nice guy.
I havehad some things done at Final Touch Powdercoating , in Spring Lake, NC and am very happy with the results. Roger and the folks at Final Touch specialize in "show" quality coating and their pricing is very reasonable. I am still on the fence on chroming the front end on my 08 SG or going with his "Wet Black" finish. (Looks like Vivid Black paint). If I go with the black, Roger will definitely get my work. Check out his website and give him a call, I found him extremely knowledgeable and a friendly guy to talk to.
