Any one know of a powder coating company in the Portland Oregon area?
There is a place in Oregon City that does amazing work. Do you know the shop in Salem called Ashcroft Cusoms? He uses the place in OR City. Can't remember the name of it, but if you've seen Ashcroft's bikes, you know the PC is good quality.
I had my stuff done in Albany at Willamette Powder Fab. My folks live down there, so I just brought a box of parts to my Dad and he dropped them off for me.
I'm sure there are others. Check with Mark at All American Cycle, I bet he uses someone locally.
How durable is powder coating? Is there any special prep work to the chrome before powder is applied?
Like to know too. Looks like an alternative to chrome, and to refurbish worn surfaces.
powder is way more durable than paint...very resistant to rock dings, chip, etc.
as far as prepping chrome...depending on the final finish desired it's common to media blast atleast enough to etch the surface [chrome is slippery stuff] however ive had some good results using translucent powders over chrome and polished aluminum...feel free to hit me up for special h.d.f member pricing...or just to ask questions
BZ, thanks for the info. A buddy has dealt with Mark for years and has nothing but good things to say about All American. Will give them a call tommorrow. I am looking at powder coating some old bag guards I bought on Ebay.
To PhilM, I am new to the forum but have been riding for 30 years (50 years old). I always am looking for fellow riders opinions and ideas, so at how many "post" does it require you to be a "DICK"? Just checking?

Welcome Jim.
That is quite an interesting question ~ one that I am not sure I know the answer to. It is not and never has been my intention to be a DICK, so if you were offended, I appologize. [&:]
