I would only go with the clearview, I have a couple of them on different bikes and love them, tried the others, maybe it is cheaper plastic or a different kind of plastic, but, the others alwys scratch and look onl in a few months, spend the extra mone and wait whatever time you need to wait and buy one that will last and will look good llater too...
I have the 9.5" Clearview and like it. I'm 6'2" and long waisted. The wind hits right at the top of my helmet which is ok. You should be fine.
You will get some wind from the sides, however because the shield is narrower than stock.
On a long trip I would probably put the stock shield on.
Don't know why this says "reply to Texan" It is intended for the thread starter.
Try the http://www.customflhtwindshields.net/. Pat and Robin are very easy to deal with. I have two of their windshields. I had a 3 pocket bag that helped to scratch up the windshield. I am about 6 foot and I have the 9 inch smoked with the half moons. I will problaby order the 10 inch from them next. I tried a 6 inch but I like the coverage of the 9 or 10. They are great folks to deal with.
I really like the way it looks on my Ultra.
I have 3 windshields that I switch out. I have a 6.5" black for warm weather. I use a 9.5" for early spring, late fall, and distance riding with the wife (the wind buffet from the 6.5 make her look like a bobble-head). Then for winter riding, I put the stock 12" back on. It got down to 18 degrees this week.. so the tall one in on now. I also have a road zepplin seat, which makes me sit about 1-1.5 inches taller in the saddle. I'm 5'-11".
I tried some of the cheapie "lexan" windshields from ebay. BIG mistake. It was like looking through a spider web.
I've tried a few in the last 10 years. All smoked. All look great the first year. Then the swirls start to show. No matter how careful you are.
If you only want to buy just 1 then go with F4 customs. Hard coated lexan that no one else has. It doesn't show swirls. A bit pricey but you'll only have to buy one if you hate swirls. http://www.f4customs.com/
