Default Lighter outlet use????

The lighter outlet on the 2008 Street Glide, the owners manual says that you should not use this for electronic equipment. I hooked a gps unit up and it sure works fine. Is this a bad idea or just Harley Lawyers covering themselves???

Thank you, Mike

They tell you not to use it for the liabilty coverage in case you get tangled up in a cord while riding.

Although mine is an '07, I use it for my GPS without any problems.

Exactly, they do not want to be liable for you using GPS / iPod / Cell phone so they use that blanket statement to cover their ****...

No problems charging my iPod Nano or Samsung Blackjack.

Is it keyed? I mean when the ignition is off is there no power to the lighter?
