GW vs Ultra Classic
I believe my post answered the question.....dick.
I do not tell people what bike to buy. The poster asked a question.
I answered tomy liking. You didn't like it? Well....you didn't ask
now did you?
A Goldwing and an Electra Glide are two different bikes, for sure.
The cons of a Goldwing as I said before are maintenance. Some
areas that require maintenance can take time to get to. Panels/seat and
radio/stereo have to be removed to get to common areas.
Need to check a fuse? Remove the left saddle bag (not as easy as a electra
glide). Ask a salesman to show you the airfilter on a Goldwing (1500 OR 1800)....
watch the look on his face.
You want to talk crap about Honda fine........know what you are talking about first....dick.
Chuck
Why does your Goldwing have a zero next to Nav system?
What is heritage "zero" and then "priceless"? (how does that affect 'passenger comfort'?)
You have your mind set already...so just say so and don't ask a TROLL question.
So I now have an Electraglide, but I bought an 03 classic because I love the 03.
Ever notice it is always the what ever bike compared toa Harley.
The fact that you ask the question is proof that you feel exactly like myself and many others. You want the Harley but know that there are other bikes out there that are more refined and may perform better. That is true but they are not and never will be a Harley. They don't have the history, the image or the appeal that a harley has.
I have never been on a ride where a metric bike owner has talked to me and not appologized for their bike not being a Harley.
The metric bikes are great but they don't put a grin on my face like my Harley. You will never get rid of the question until you ride a Harley.
Later....
One factor that turned my wife away from the UC was the saddlebag guard rails getting in the way - her calves would bump up against them, very uncomfortable. Is there a fix for this?
This is the age old debate.... Should I buy the Metric bike or the Harley.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
After several years of riding metric, andbeing pleased, I started to look for something else.
Something that made me feel a little more alive.
My Dad had HD all his life, and I would often kid him about an oil spot on the floor, blah blah blah.
In turn, he'd bust my chops about stopping for rice fuel on trips. Still, the heart pounding rumble of Dad coming home after work was sound/experience I'll never forget. The excitement of the loud pipes and potatah-potatah idle just added icing to the cake.
Anyway, the first time I slung my leg over my Ultra Classic, I just knew it was for me. This one, today, no others.
I've been on several GW's and liked them, smooth and comfortable, but it just felt empty. It didn't feel a part of me. It was almost like a cold shoulder from a hot chick, just no connection.
My HD on the other hand was simply awesome. You sat in the seat and it called your name, you instantly felt alive. The size, the weight, the girth of the beast...it's either there or it's not.
The wife was secondary in the decision. She was happy either way, but felt more in tune with the UC.
My touring buddy rides a Wing, rode Harley until the early 80's when he quit riding for a while due to health reasons.
He loves his current wing, but there is a certain glow in his eyes when he sits on my UC.
Some people say you're just trying to look tough by riding one. Nah, I know I'm tough enough already, riding a Harley doesn't boost that. But the sounds and smells and the awesome grunt of that shakydeep tonedbas*ard does the trick for me.
All while not wearing fingerless gloves....
Sounds like an Air Compressor on 2 wheels = Goldwing
Rolling Thunder = Harley Davidson Anything
I loved hot rod cars when I was younger. Now its good looking and sounding motorcycles. I love the sound of 300+ Harleys rolling down the street at 70 MPH to a chariety function.
At a lot of our HOG chariety functions we have every kind of bike you can imagine. The crowds that we meet love the sound of the Harleys and they wait for us to roll in.I think the world of the Honda GW Group thatsupportus in our causes. Greatpeople. They ride their GW but they come to lookat our bikes weither we join their rides or they join ours. You see a GW you seen them all. GW group held a bike contest on whose was the prettiest bike and guess who won? Yeap they said they should have never let usenter the contest bhahahhaa. The crowdpicked a Harley. Ride aHarley or a Wing JUST RIDE and enjoy life. Ride especially for aCause. Help people when you can since you have been blessed toown a fine machine weither it is a Wing or a Harley.
Just my humble oppinion. Wing riders would say something different than me because they like theirride. I like them too just I want something Ican make mine. I dont want it out of the box I want to mold it to fit me.
