When I first bought it it was miserable in the heat and the stock set up just has to go.

pinging,heat issues

upgraded to the fuelpack pinging went away a lil

now i have the sert and a good tune thing runs like a top now no pinging or heat issues

I guess I should have mentioned that already have upgraded to stage 1, Fuel Pak and V& H slip-on's. It only happens when I really get on it. The ping is probably more like a ticking sound.. Thanks for the inputs. I'll wait until I get a fresh tank of gas and see if it continues.

Well more info on the bike is needed before any good info can be given.
Anything else is just a GUESS and personal observations.

Im getting the same problem as described in post 1. I have a 2008 softail deluxe with stage 1 filter,Vance and Hines duals exhaust, and Vance and Hines fuelpak running 91 octane gas. When i get on the throttle to pass a car or feeding onto a highway in 5th or 6th gear,it starts to ping or tick. The temperture here in south texas is pretty hot.Probably 100 degrees on each day.Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

It is really hard to try to help someone out when they dont know the difference between detonation and a lifter ticking. Just saying.

+1&nbsp\\; My thought exactly.&nbsp\\; From the description, I thought a lifter, not pinging from detonation.&nbsp\\; Would have to hear it, but I suggest you let a good maechanic ride it and determine if there is any question.&nbsp\\; Definitely two separate issues, need to know which one.
