Do yourself a favor. Tell the dealer that you are burning a quart every 1500mi. That is what HD Customer service says is above the acceptable amount. If you don't, youwill be taking a chance that your dealer will do the work out of thier pocket. My 05RKC has 16500mi and is burning1qt every 1000mi. Dealer will do the work for about $250.HD customer service basicly said tuff S%!T. I will probably have my inde do the valve seals and a 1550kit as I trust him more than the dealer(probably why the dealer didn't push too hard for me).Good Luck, Herb
I had an 05 RKC with bad seals fixed under warranty no problem. Bike ran awesome after igot it fixed. I was burning a quart every 500-700miles I also had the infamous fouled plugs and pinging.

I recomend you try another dealer. Why pay for it yourself?
I have just been reading through all of these posts. I have an '05 RK and I also am burning oil at a very rapid rate, about 1 qt every 500-700 miles. No leak, no smoke, but you feel it ifyou run your finger inside the end of the pipe. My bike is out of warranty and I do not have an extended warranty. My indi. shop I go to told me it would be about $1000.00 to fix the problem. I would like to think that Harley should be obligated to fix this problem since it was obviously a design flaw on their part, but I have a feeling I am going to be SOL. Most of you who did get Harley to cover this repair, didyou either have extended warranty or was your bike still under manufacturer warranty?
It's out of warranty, so I find it very doubtful they'll do anything for you. Unless of course, you'll pay for it. I'd look for an indy with a better price.
Had the same problem with my 05 Ultra. Tried two dealers, neither would repair under warranty. Went to independent had new seals installed in rear cylinder for $240. 7,000 miles later bike runs great and uses no oil.
