Has anyone added a cooling fan to cool down their 07-08 ultra for use when sitting in stop and go traffic. If so, what brand and has it been reliable. I am interested in any information on the Nagle Industries fan that mounts in place of the cowbell horn cover.
Thanks
I think the selection is pretty slim, with only a few (maybe 2) brands offering the product.
The Moco version is pretty darn expensive, if you ask me, and I am not sure I really care for the appearence.
I'm interested in responses as well. I get stuck in stop and go traffic nearly every evening coming home from work, so, I will be adding something to the scoot this year. In addition to synthetic oil of course.
I have the Lenale-Engineering cooling fan on my 07 SE Ultra, its a well made little unit works through the accessory switch and moves a lot of air for its size, Its a nice option, kind of like a spare tire, you hope you dont have to use it, but its nice knowing its there. It blows air on the injectors as well as the cylinders,I was stranded in traffic a few times and the bike never faltered or ran erratically with the fan operating, I would recommend them.
Haven't read a lot of good reviews on the fans. many say they don't last. I re-tuned with a SERT to richen up the AFR and added a set of RJs Original heat shields. They make all the difference in the world!! on hot days it was almost unbearable to ride in slow traffic (the boys were getting roasted like chestnuts over a hot fire). Now with the RJs heat ain't a problem on the thighs at stop lights or slow traffic. You can get cheaper (HD or Kury), but their are many who have had problems installing or melting of the shields. The RJs aren't made of plastic. IMHO they look great and in the long run are the only way to go.
My Dad bought one for his 2003 Ultra. I helped him install it and he likes it says it works well in heavy traffic. Now one thing we did. He has the HD moco fan.
We have it set up were you turn it on with a switch the temp sensor in our opinion is set to hight that comes with it. With putting it on the switch you can turn it on any time you feel that its getting warm.
We also had to relocate the existing horn up under the fearing.
He has no complaints about the fan and says it keeps the bike cooler in heavy traffic.
Lenale was selling their units on E Baywhen Ipurchased mine, It came with an accessory plug an additional horn and a horn relocation kit for the OEM horn, the Combination horn was not really loud so I used the relocation kit an mounted my horn on the front frame rail.
Thanks to everyone who replied. I picked up one of these little Lenale units in November and have not installed it as of yet. It does appear to be well built, especially compared to the unit the MOCO was offering on earlier models. I had one of those on a 2002 Ultra and was not happy with the unit. The Lenale unit is suppossed to push twice the air of the MOCO unit. I too will relocate the horn when I mount mine, and run it thru the accessory switch.
Thanks again.
