I should have mentioned that the lens has built in white license plateLED's that light up the top of the fender and especially if you have a backrest installed. This is only an issue with the Street Glide. I'm going to try to find a work-around to either disable or black them out. Otherwise I will have to return it as it's really quite bright and I'm sure I'll get a ticket for improper lighting.

Jock, You are thinking the same as I. 1 bulb burns out you areout of light in the rear. All our newer fire trucks are leds. They are bright! Running lights that is. Emergency lights are strobes.
Would like to see Harley come out with dual led rear turn signals kit, also.
I have purchased and installed the Led Brake light. simple except for the instructions saying us the left set of holes for the connection. if you have a tour pack then its the one to the right. I also have the spoiler from HD color coded and that works great, Gives cagers something to look at a little higher. Between the both I am very please with the light and looks. best of luck no matter what you decide . Rear light imo are the best way to stay upright
I have the new HD LED for 08, part #68087-08 (Smoked Lens w/ Black Housing) and it is really bright at night and/or when the brakes are applied.
It is not as bright in the daytime as I would like, but no less s than the standard. However, when I was behind another bike at quite a distance in the shaded woods, it really stood out even though it was abut 3:00 pm.
In addition to the LED tail light, I have also converted the turn signals to running/brake lights. As a total package, I feel i am very visible on the road day or night.
I think an LED tail light is worth the money for added visibility, but nor necessarily the HD one. I had it put on as part od a bike package when buying my new SG. If I were to do it again, I would check to see if the red lens is brighter vs the smoked.
the only reason they say its not for the flhx is the fact that the light has a white up facing light. This would be for all the bikes that have the plates mounted to the rear bar. They also say not with the relocation kit due to the fact that the new bracket has a plate light built in. There is no reason it won't work with the flhx. It just bothers some people with the white light facing up. Its harley covering there hinney due to the fact the light isn't specfically designed for the flhx.
I saw the white upward facing light on my FLX, and don't really mind it. As people have said, it goes up and not out to traffic. I belie the more the light the better, though I don't know first hand how visible it is to traffic behind me. I can't see any police related problems, but if that were to happen a solution would easily be workable, even if it is just sticker or medalian temporary to cover. I'm about 99.9% sure that would never be necessary, but wil keep you posted.
