Hell, I would love temps in the 40's. High today of 39 (the nicest day in a week). Low of 14. Yes, 14 here in the freakin' desert. I drove the truck to work last week, and it was in the mid teens all week. Way to cold for me. I guess living here for so many years has made me soft... But, I am cold all the freakin' time now.
Travis, do you know a gentleman in town,Dan Ronda old friend. He is a concrete cutter.
Mike
Nope... but it is a fairly big town... If he rides, it is possible I have seen him... Or, seeing that I work in a casino, if he is a player, I would know him. I know a lot of Dan's that gamble... but Dan is a common name...
Pappa T I grew up in Washington State. I used to ride my metrics year round. It didn't matter how cold. I have lived in So. Cal. for almost 20 yrs now. I don't know if it is the climate or age that has made me soft. When it drops below 60....I usually decide to cage it.
I think it is age... becauseI feel like a wuss.... andI don't care.
Not bad.
When we got up this morning it was 33 degrees. We rode to Arlington Texas convention center for the DFW Bike show and swap meet. Alot of riders this morning were there.
It finally reached 45 when we rode home. Nice sunny and crisp.
How the heck did I miss that! Oh well, had to go see the wife's family today so I couldn't go any way. Did get to ride over too their house so at least I got on it today. Got out and added the battery charger pigtail. I understand we're supposed to really get a cold front on New Years!
Time to put the bike up for a couple of days, the weather is starting to turn.I seem to draw the line at about 45 degrees.I guess if I was going to continue to ride in the cold I would drop the oil weight down as well.Riding at say 50 degrees the oil temp cant be getting very warm at all any input on this operating temp?
Oil will heat up and work properly. Your engine creates far, far more heat than a simple zero-degree day can deal with. It's only an issue (and rarely, if ever with modern multi-weight oils) while starting up a cold engine.
Do you understand how multi-viscosity oils work? (genuine question, not a dig)
Not bad.

Well if it's any solice you didn't miss much. Nice ride though
[8D]Air temperature is not a problem .............. road conditions are! I put mine away after the first snow fall. BTW - the lean tuned 96 is a blessing when the temperature is just above freezing ............. not to mention the lowers! Still warmer than a snow machine - by far!
45deg today with mostly sunny prediction in NorthWest Arkansas. I think I might have to get a ride in. Go Hogs!
(ha ha) -10 here with a foot of snow down ........... and more on the way ....... I think I'll do the same ................ on a ski-do! (I've always wanted to have the bragging rights of riding on New Years day!)
It's a beautiful 40 degrees in Seattle today...partly sunny...way too nice a day to not ride. I rode into work this morning and may take the long way home this afternoon.
