I am new to the bagger world and have a simple question. I have a RK Custom with the leather bags, and want to switch to hard bags. First, does HD sell replacement hard bags? From what I have been reading, some say they do not? Second, the few bags I found for sale online, have been in the 800 to 1000 dollar range and that is not even in my color so I have to have them painted. Is there no way to get hard bags for any less money? This seems way overpriced even for Harley.
Just look at Ebay and be paitient, just got a set for $570 shipped, getting the king tour pack to match, you can sell your leather bags on ebay to offset some of the cost. The ones I got dont are two tone BCP and BP my bike is BCP, plan to have the bags flamed any way so not a biggie.
Oh ordered the key matched lock for all three bags from dealer yesterday, $110.
Mike: Contact a dealer with an online store like Chicago HD or Zanotti HD. They will order to your oem color at 20% off MSRP. You can pay more off of ebay if not careful.
Mike: I would hang on to the leather bags when you find another set. That way you can have another set to give your bike a different look when you get tired of the bags. I have a set of hard bags, and a set of RK Classic leather for my RK. Also, got an extra set ofhard bags, that I suppose I should sell as I really can not use three sets of bags, but one hard and one leather is nice combo....
call some dealers. You can probably find some cheaper if you shop around. I found a pair at my dealer one blue one white obviously used but they can be easily and cheaply painted for about $100.00 The dealer wanted 350.00 plus 100.00 for paint
