i am super close to getting my Roadglide. A buddy of mine said i should have the dealer to the stage one modification before i pick it up. Is this advisable? anyone have a ballpark cost? I talked to the dealer about it, they said the parts they put on before
i pick it up would be under a 3 year warrenty. if i have them do it after i pick it up, they are only warrentied for 90 days.
I gues my question is, is the stage one worth it? the bike is an '06 roadglide. I will mainly ride it back and forth to work.
work is 80 miles each way. (and a few poker runs, a bit around town, back and forth to the store, etc)
oh, does this modification adversly affect the miles per gallon?
The gas milage will go down a little. I mean 1-2 miles per gallon.Yes, it is worth it. A good set of pipes and a high flow filter and download will cost you about $650.00 -$750.00 depending on what pipes you choose. Considering it appears you want to be conservative I would recommend a 2 into1 Vance and Hines Pro Pipe or a pair of SE slip ons.Absolute best bang for the buck and you will be glad you spent the extra money.
Thanks for the reply. will the SE slip ons give a deaper sound? I really like the dual exhaust look, so I think i would
like to keep that style.

Cheyenne is correct. The download is crap. Put on a stage 1 air cleaner, some SE slipons and the SERT. The download is a bandaid fix that is generic to your bike. The SERT (Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner) or the Power Commander (PCIII) tunes your bike specific to the modifications you have had installed. You can add another 300.00 dollars to to the above estimate with these mods.
I dunno...The SE filter and slip ons do indeed perk up the motor nicely....this "don;t do the download"? Hey...it is HD specific and if the dealer has a decent tuning wrench and does it on the dyno, it works fine. Mine was set up that way, I have 13K on it, get 42 mpg highway at 80 mph, about a nice 9 HP bump and nice boost in torque.
Now, same year, make and model of a freind of mine...Arlen Ness Big Sucker (wonder why it's named that????), V&H True duals, a PC III...and I stay side by side with him through 70 - 75 mph, then he fades by about 4 lengths all the way to 100.
The download is bad? Don't thnk so! I think whomever set the scoot up did a **** poor job of tuning it! (The one who say the download is crap, I mean!)
