if they weren't required i wouldn't wear one. as it is i wear a novelty. some say anyone who rides a motorcycle has a death wish and is crazy. each to their own. enjoy your ride.

Should be a matter of personal choice of course but the right answer is for those that go without to carry enough insurance so my tax dollars don't have to pay for their long term care. I always wear one!

If I knew for certain I'd never have a crash and need a helmet on to stay alive then I'd never wear one. Of course I'd love to feel the wind in my hair, etc.

But unfortunately, much like auto insurance, home-owner's insurance, etc we never know when that Day will come when you're gonna crash. Hence I wear a helmet regardless of what the law says. I just don't feel comfortable without one.

A very minor bump on the head can kill you or render you worse than dead. I've seen it happen. Conversely a pretty scarey spill can be walked away from if you have the right gear on.

It's your choice, it's just that simple. If you have NO family or anyone who cares or depends on if you're alive or dead or a vegetable or not, then it matters not as long as you're happy. Sometimes we wear these things not so much for ourselves as our kids, family, etc.

Happy riding...

Biotch came out of a parking lot and hit me, knocked me into another car head on and I went airborn over that second car. Was wearing a 3/4 helmet. It had a large cracked spot on the left side. My head did not. Even though SC is a helmet optional state, I always have and always will wear a helmet.

Ride safe

Bubba

Living in a HELMET State (California) - I figured well if ya got to wear one might as wear a Full Face Modular and get the most protection ya can... How ever whenI travel and enter a OPTIONAL Helmet State... 9 times out of 10 the helmet will come off at the first stop...
