Default Rear Rim width

I purchased a set of Sturgis Wheels because the price was right. the front will fit no problem 16x3.5, but the rear is 16" x 5.25" will this fit my 2007 Road Glide, what changes will I need to make. Thanks!

That's awful wide for a stock bike. A 5.5" rim is made for a 180-200. Neither of those are fitting inside of your stock fender/frame horns. I don't know what the adverse effects are of running a narrower tire on a wider rim. I'd imagine you will end up with a pretty flat running/wearing tire. Check with your tire manufacture of choice and see if a 150-160 will squeeze onto that rim.

According to Metzeler's website, the 150 should mount on a 3-4" wheel, and the 160 on a 3.50-4.50" wheel. I would think the 160mm tire would mount up fine, but it's going to measure wider than 160 mounted. You will prolly have issues with the belt guard and inner fender?
Here is the website link, see page 7..

A 150 on a 3.5" rim in my stock 01 fender is real tight. It required a little "clearancing" to fit. Since your bike is newer you MAY have a little more room.

I put a Weld 18x5.5 with a Metz 160 on the back of my 2006 SG. The good news is it rides and handles great, but I've only put a couple of thousand on it so I can't comment on tire wear yet. The bad is I had to change to a Screamin Eagle King rear fender. My bike has the 1 1/8 belt (yours will be a 7/8 or 13/16), so I had toshift the wheel to the right with a new spacer on the left and machining down the caliper arm but I was able to center the wheel in the frame by doing this also. You shouldn't have to do this though with the narrower belt. To me it was worth the work because I like the look of the wide wheel. I think a 180 would work in my fender but it would be close and I would have to change to a narrower belt or chain.

tsglide did you have any problem getting a SERK fender?
How wide is the fender? Does it sit between the framerails or over it?

No problems at all. I ordered it in primer which is not protected. The bag fillers only come painted but they were not a protected part either. The fender sits between the rails as the standard fenders do and it is only about 3/4" wider but that is enough to make you also get a new grab bar(or delete it like I did), bag support rails, rear fender/bag support, front fender mounting bosses and you have to change to the tombstone taillight also unless you want to do some metal work to make the standard taillight work. Also you will need the strut covers off of the SERK but I just haven't picked them up yet.
