Been ridin since I was 10 yrs old, now 41.

Took the MSF BRC a few years ago and own the Ride like a Pro IV video. Found both well worth the money. Plan on taking the ERC this spring since wifey will be taking the BRC anyway.

Always learn'in! Plus gives a little break on insurance.

I took a riders course when I was 13/14 (21 years ago).Haven't done one since. Funny how I can still remember what I learned in that class, but I can't remember to take out the trash... Just sayin'.
...I hear ya, so true! That's why I gave that job to my 10 yr old son!

sounds like you've got just about exactly the right attitude to be an instructor alright.

I am constantly taking courses and advancing my skills and the difficulty of the courses I take. I'm diligent in my riding, in my training and in my own critical self-assessment of those skills. Unlike a lot of riders, I have a very realistic view of what I do and don't know, of that which I'm good at and that which I need improvement. I'm also looking at becoming an instructor for the Lee Parks TC-ARC clinic. This spring, after my cross-country trip, I'm going to finish that.

The quality of riding in this country flat out sucks. And of all the riders I see, cruiser riders are among the worst. it's like they get this thought in their head, "hey man, I'm on a cruiser. I've got a 24 inch seat height and I'm not riding fast so I don't need no training." The whole notion that people get on their bikes thinking they know enough disgusts me.

How many of you have had formal, instructor led rider training? - 3 times, at 18, 24, and 40
How many of you practice the learnings of the training? - I do at least once a month and anytime I am bored and want to play with the bike.
How many of you have viewed and practiced a video riding course? - planning on it after I seen several reviews from folks I trust.

I had been riding 32 years and I am planing on taking another course.
I am also planing on getting the "Ride like a pro" video.

I am a firm believer that the more you are in tune with the machine and have a riding understanding or your suroundings, the less you'll be swaping paint.

Started riding by taking MSF course. ERC or advanced course at least every two years. Got Lee Parks book "Total Control" and want to take his course. His book gave me the best understanding of the dynamics of forces acting on a motorcycle. One of the deciding factors in moving to Harley was taking the Riders Edge Advanced Course about six months ago. It is a cut above the competition at least in this area. Another favorite book for light reading is David Hough's book Proficient Motorcycling. Good stuff for keeping the Shiny Side pointed in the right direction. and Practice, Practice, Practice.

My dad got my first motorcycle a honda minitrail 50cc when I turned eight years and have had a motorcycle ever since then, even thou I still took a motorcycle safety course with my friend back in 2000 just to polish my slow riding skill. I sure don 't "Practice" per say I just go out and ride the bike.

Took the basic MSF course again just before getting my scoot for Christmas as it has been 12 years since I have been a Scoot pilot. Will be taking the Experienced rider course for the first timein the spring when it gets warmer.

Count me in....I bought my first bike when I was 16, been riding all my life... In 2007 I felt I needed to step up and take the course.... so after 40 years of riding,I know I still have a lot to learn....

I've taken the BRC and ERC, but the last time was about 10 years ago. This last summer I started helping my wife learn and in the process realized how many bad habits I had person picks up without realizing it. I have several of the "ride like a pro" videos and along with a few friends plan to set up the course and try run through it ourselves....with someone else watching it might be easier to identify mistakes.

The BRC and ERC is very hard to get into around here, by early May most all the available classes for the summer are fully booked, but I may try to reserve a spot to go through the ERC again, especially after watching the "ride like a pro" videos and seeing what is possible iwth these big cruisers.

I took the Basic Rider Course in November. I rode thirty years ago and learned a lot form this course. This yearI will do the Experienced Rider Course , these are outstanding classes and from what I observed in my classit should be the licensing process. It made me a better rider.

Ride well,

Jim
