Default Changing Windshield on FLHT

I was thinking of changing windshields on my 07 FLHT. Did a searchbut didnt find anything about how to so Ill just ask, is all you have to do loosen or remove those three torqz screws and the windshield slides in and out? Any tricks I need to know before attempting? Thanks in advance.

correct. Loosen them and wiggle the sheild out. The sheild does fit over tabs on the inner fairing. Work each side at a time and be gental. Its a peice of cake.

If I do any work near the front end, I cover my front fender with a towel. The three screws across the top of the fairing are what needs to be loosened beginning with the 2 on the outer edges first saving the middle for last. Keep your hand on the windshield and just lift out. Inspect rubber trim that lays against the glass on the inside of the fairing for missing sections or sections that will eat up your windshield and change if need be.

Thanks for the input, just ordered a new Cee Bailey ice blue tinted windshield and tinted headlight armor (for my spotlights to change from clear to yellow).

Be sure to use the correct torx and don't over tighten.

Yep, picked up the plain chrome windshield strip from the dealer today, $39 for a single strip of chrome and three screws! I ordered a Cee Bailey windshield (stock size but ice blue tint) and also ordered the yellow running light armor so that should look pretty good I think when I get it all installed. Ill take a few pics when I get it all installed.

Yeah, Cee Bailey's is a good choice. Now if I could only remember where I saw one [sm=confused06.gif]
