Default It'ts about time !!!!!

Well, she's finally here and of cours there's 2' of snow outside. My new 2008 Street Glide is going to be spending the next 3 months at the stealer's. So far I had Bassani reverse cone megaphone mufflers installed(stock head pipes) and they sound awesome. The rumble at idle is very deep and throaty, sort of like a big block chev. I also had the passing lamps installed and they look good too. My question to all of you guys out here is: What do you recommend for air cleaner and ecm tuner. I have heard a lot about the power commander, and K&N filter. Has any one had good results with the Terry Components Terminal Velocity II ? Also , should I stick with Bassani, and add their true dual power curve at a later date or go with other header pipes ? Thanks to everyone for your help and input. I will post some pictures as soon as my 3 month old son lets me !!!

First off congrats on the bike I went with the T-Max after much deliberation and could not be happier with the decision. I myself, love to tinker on the bikes but would not consider myself to be in the league of most of the people in the forum (lots of great experience). I find it quite easy to understand and use the T-Max and with all the posts and help I have found here have not had any problems. (knock on wood) Can't wait to see the pics.

Sounds like you've got some great riding ahead of you. Why not extend your accessory money by buying a service manual and doing some of your own work? And when you cannot, having an independent facility work on your bike? You'll actually get to talk to the person who works on your bike and in my experience, get way better customer service. Nothing against dealerships, but they sure have high overhead with their boutique departments and after all, they already got a huge windfall in profit and mfr. holdback out of your wallet. No, it won't void your warranty. Why not spread your money around? As far as ECMs go, there's no doubt I'd be ordering ThunderMax products for that bike in a heartbeat. An SE or AN chrome backing plate and a K&N filter would already be on order if that was my bike! Miles of Smiles!

You have some time before you will be riding I would recommend waiting a little while to see if either the K&N or Arlen Ness air cleaner becomes available. The SE air cleaner is not a bad alternative, and is currently the only stage-1 air cleaner available, but the others should be coming out soon There is a recent thread I read just this morning regarding problems finding a place to install the PCIII unit (if your bike has ABS). In my opinion the Tmax is way overkill unless you plan a lot of future engine mods. I went with the SERT on my 08 UC, I liked the idea of not having another piece of hardware hanging on my bike like the PCIII, but I didn't want to guess at tuning, so I had it dynoed. Costs a little for a good dyno tune, but in my opinion its well worth it.

congrats on the new bike...you will love it. i did alot of reading (mostly on here) about fuel systems and had alot of head aches. i finally decided to go with SERT because i have a excellant dyno tuner local. as for the air cleaner, i went with the SE but will prolly do a k&n upgrade with it at a later date. ride safe!!

I have the bassani power curve pipes, love them. If it were my scoot, a thundermax would be there too. Getting one next month, Just in case I need some more power. I like the Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather myself, That option is always open to whatever you fancy.

I agree the t-max would be overkill at this point, BUT I hate spending money twice. I will usually do the research and get what I will end up needing down the road as well as what could serve me right now. It most of the time costs me more up front, but ends up being less expensive in the long run. Just my 2 cents of course... I would hate to know what the bills are adding up to at the dealer installing the parts listed, but I would imagine not cheap.

I don't know how some of you can do it. Leavingthe scoot at the dealer for 3 months. Hell, I'd find a way to get that bike home and I'd be tinker'n with it for the next 3 months.

I'd be going crazy! I need to touch and feel and stare and screw with.

Congrats.

I agree totally - can't stand letting someone else do what I can read and attempt to do myself either. Even a bad experience is a learning one. That was the main selling point of going with the t-max fewer trips to a shop
