How is a ThunderMax overkill? Isn't its cost about the same as a SERT + Dynotuneor a PCIII + Dynotune? T-Max means no Dynotunes with any mod down the road, and it can be removed from the bike and used on another if the mood strikes you.

I would go with the T-Max again right from the start and not think twice about it. That's why I said I like to look further down the road instead of what I am working on right this second. I went with the t-max first and am very happy with it and I would not consider it overkill. However, that is a lot of brick to shell out for the ability to do tuning especially if tuning is not something he wants to do himself. Being that it is at the dealer now for these mods, the SERT would be a better choice. JMHO.
