No adjustments needed just slap them on. I replaced my 12" with 13" air shocks, I really liked the results but you know how us HD owners are, always looking for more so I figured if the 13" HD air shocks feel this good, imagine how Progressive 13" 440's must feel. WRONG! I changed the HD air shocks to Progressive and although the Progressive 440's aren't bad, I think I like the 13" HD shocks better.
The Progressives tend to be a little bit stiffer and I feel as though they sit me up a little higher than HD of the same length. I think it's due to the sag rate. I weigh 205 and only compress the shocks less than 1/2 inch and the Progressives are standard spring load and are set almost as soft as possible.
jmho.
I am removing my 12" stock shocks and replacing with 13" shocks taken off an ultra classic, was wondering if I had to adjust the belt? Thanks.
Spec on FLHX and FLHRS is for a tighter belt tension than other FLH's, and I assume this is due to the shorter shock height. I think the FLHX tension is far too tight even with the 12" shocks (1/4-5/16"), and I've got mine at about 1/2" with the prescribed 10-lb. load. I have the 12½" Progressive 440's on my bike, but if I had the 13" stock shocks I would put it no tighter than the max for bikes with that shock, which is 7/16".
