Default FLHX Shocks

Have an 08 SG with Progressive 412 shocks 12.5. Suspension was ok until I started riding with the wife and detachable tourpak. Combined weight of 400lbs and we bottom out. Researching new shocks. Thinking 944 standard or hd? Also any SG owners using 13 inch shocks? Been getting conflicting answers here. Emailed Progressive but no reply.

can you adjust your shocks for the increased load ? that is the first step.

you can use 13" IF you have not lowered your forks. they work great, I think and you should be able to get a used set for $100 or a little more.

make sure they have been stored upright and sealed, so that the oil has stayed in.

you can get airlines and valve at pepboys

swapping shocks only takes 20 minutes, so keep the 12.5 for when you are solo

Once I get to that line on my list of things to do, I'm putting 13" HD shocks on with a 1" lowering kit to bring my ride height back where it was.

Those shocks were so smooth on my Electraglide.

JABMIKE,

I just replaced my air shocks with Progressive 944 standard spring rate. My wife and I did a 1000 mile trip a week and half ago. Same situation, Wife, Loaded King Tour, and both saddle bags filled. I weighed everything. came out to 450LBS.

Make a long story short, I called Frank at Progressive today (Warranty?Techline), no problem to replace the standard rate springs out for the Heavy Duty's. He processed the RMA # while i was on the phone with him. I just pay for the shipping.

I hope that helps!!

Default progressive 944

I ordered the 944 HD last night from Eastern Performance for $525 and free shipping. They are already on their way. Hope to have installed by the weekend. If they work out I am thinking of installing the monotubes next. I watched the Progressive video on install and it doesn't look that difficult. Just in case, who had the dealer do theres and how much did it cost???

Put 944's on my SG last week. No complaints as the ride is fantastic either solo or two up

I was about to order these, but you may have changed my mind. I don't want higher than stock, not because I'm short (I'm 6'1"), but because I just don't want the rear end any higher. I have 19/18 Agitators, so I already feel like the rear is a 1/2" higher. No bueno-back to the drawing board...
