I've got the fairing apart to install new handlebars this winter. I'm also doing the "driving lights on all the time" mod and hiding the satellite radio antenna and wiring. I was considering doing the garage door opener mod, but I just hang my opener on my clutch cable and use the same on in the car as well. No big deal.
What else should I consider doing whilst the fairing is apart?
A new pair of speakers to replace thos so so OEM units??? I got the JBL 527....or something like that, and they kick a$$. Or if you dont mind spending a $100 or so a pair....go for the Hawg Wired........perfection!
Well, all of the above are excellent suggestions. When I installed a painted inner fairing and spun aluminum gauges it was like getting a new motorcycle when I rode it because what I saw in front of me was so different from the stock set-up.
Also, fairing mounted mirrors may work well for you.
While you have the fairing off, get a tube of electrical connector sealant and coat the inside of the connectors. Protects against corrosion and makes them easier to take apart the next time
