I was reading through my manual about taking my forks off and install chrome lowers and its shows a few tools from harley that make life easier so I started looking to see what these cost and I can't find them anywhere on harley's site. Anybody know the trick here, or maybe someone else that sells the tools?? I checked Jim's and they have some but not all.[/align]
I did not know about http://www.georges-garage.com/. I ordered the cam locking tool and pump alignment pins as they were better prices than the Jims tools. I had already ordered the Jims bearing install tool at $30 more. Live an learn.
before purchase of tools.$$$ consider using the search tab on the top of the screen...lots of information on chrome lowers....some "tools: can be home-made:
like:
fork seal installer= PVC pipe and using old seal to knock in the new one.
then consider placement of another post with bike model and year.
many, many informed "do it yourself people" that have done it before and can save you time and money with tips and ideas...like 20% off for parts at many places with no tax.
***note installation of chrome lowers is not impossible for the DYI but it does require time and patience.
or in the case of the front forks consider having the dealer install as that is an item where it could be as cheap as free for the labot, it is one of the items covered under the elbow grease assistance program through Harley, I try to do almost everything myself, I would have Harley do what they will do for free...why own a tool that you will only use the one time and never again....
