Default Street Glide - Perfect Windshield Height

Street Glide owners,

Two questions:

1.) What windshileld height did you go with for cruising and/or around the town? I'm a taller rider and would like a larger bubble than stock may offer.

2.) If you did go with an aftermarket windshield and went taller (upwards of 8 inches) did you go clear, smoked, blackout, etc.? Unless I'm riding in driving rain, I'm not sure I'd ever hunker down and drive while looking through the windshield.

In a nutshell, how high is high-enough without losing the classic chopped windshield which the Street Glide offers?

Thanks for the feedback!

I am 5'6' and settled for a 5' black sheild. I look over it and i still maintain that bad *** look that i was looking for.

5' 11" here. Recently installed a Fastaire 8" Dark Sunglass Grey on my 07 SG. HUGE improvement over the stock 4 incher, but if I were to do it again I'd go with the 10".

That "chopped" look stops at about the 6" height in my opinion. Anything over that...go with something that will give you functionality over form.

I'm 6'1" and went with the 8" Dark Gray Clearview shield. Love the quality and protection... did not sacrifice any looks IMO.

I went with a Clearview 9 1/2 " SMOKED. I am 6'1" and my view is still over the top of it. It made a big difference in the wind buffeting.
Take care,

I'm 6' 2" and found the Memphis Shades 12 1/2 replacement shield is a great choice. I got the gradient that is dark at the bottom and lightens as it goes up. had it on all summer and haven't taken it off.

I have the 9.5 clearview recurve in dark grey. I like the looks and the difference it made as far as the wind is concerned is amazing.

I'm 6' tall. If you want protection from wind buffeting the 12" clear is perfect. I have a 8" smoked that looks good but is still not functional. I've learned that good looks and function usually don't go together although I've gotten used to the look of my 12" so I think it's a keeper. Afterall, you can't see what you look like while you're riding so you may as well be comfortable.
