Default Took your advice...

about the back rest questions I asked a while back. Bought and installed the adjustable back rest on my Ultra today. Going on a ride with the local chapter of the Southern Cruisers tomorrow, and look forward to trying it out. Did remind myself of why i dislike installing stuff like this on my bike. My hands are to big to get into all the little holes you seem to have to get screws into, and then there is always the left over part, that has gotta be there for a reason, but is not mentioned in the install directions, and have no idea where it goes. Anyone know where the little brass horseshoe shaped clip was supposed to go????

I believe it holds the cable to the bracket.

Well, it could be that one of the circlips came off one of the two pivot pins. The pins are very poorly made since at least 2006 and the clips Will fall off and the pins will backout and the backrest will flop around like a drunken sailor. (Not that there's anything wrong with a drunken sailor). Both clips came off my 06 EGC while on a road trip and I replaced them with same sized nut and bolts and locktite. The same backrest on my 01 is still doing fine.

Well I assumed that was supposed to be the area where it went, but it was not mentioned in the instructions or diagrams. The cable attached to the bracket and snapped into place, and then was wiretied to the shaft per directions. No mention of the clip.
