Remove cam cover. Check inner shoe with a flashlight/dental mirror.

Don't know what post you are talking about, but here's a breakdown:

1) remove right floorboard
2) drop exhaust
3) remove cam chest cover
4) take open end wrench and fit over cam tensior arm and rotate towards left. Stick a small diameter allen wrench or strong nail into hole of cam plate to hold tensioner back.
5) take a screwdriver and gently pry the rear tensioner up and away and do the same with the allen wrench or nail and slide it through hole in front of plate to hold rear tensioner up.
6) take a small flashlight and a dental mirror and slide it in and look at rear tensioner.
7) if all is well, let the tension offthe tensioners and replace the cam cover gasket
8) clean the threads of the 10 bolts
9) install 10 bolts with blue loctite and torque in the manual provide sequence 90-110 inch pounds
10) post photos on the forum for all to see

When you say drop exhaust do you mean physically separate the front and remove from the bike or just take off from the front cylinder and lower enough to get the cam plate off?

You have to get the front header pipe off the bike to access the cam chest............now if you want to remove the whole system or just the front section, that is all up to you.

Right floorboard and front exhaust pipe have to be gone in order to gain access to the cam chest.
