Default used bike evaluation help

hello all...i am back again with a few questions...thanks in advance for your help....

i looked at an 05 rk efi w/ v+h true dual headers and oval mufflers w/ arlen ness hi flow a/c, and the supposed remap done...when i test road the bike, it had some decel pop...i guess the bike is running lean?? also when i started it one time it didnt cleanly turn over...kinda sputtered...sounds like it is not tuned properly?? the owner has had an independent wrench working on it who has dyno'd the bike, so i would assume it s/b running right??...another thing the owner said was that the bike had a hotter coil and has an upgrade module/chip/performance chip??...not something i have heard much on the forum...what is he referrring to ??

any thoughts about the condition of this bike??? also what benefit of true-duals???

thanks again

Are you saving any money to buy his bike? I would wonder why the independent wrench was doing the work vs. the dealer.

What did the wrench do for the remap? Must add a power commander or a SERT for the remap.

If your not saving some major money....I'd move on to a new model...maybe find an 05 on a showroom floor that a dealer wants to move.

Good luck.

the seller is looking to get 16,500 for the 05 rk efi 2 tone, 8k miles, security sys...has a good amount of chrome, touring seat w/ 2 backrests, true dual exhaust...will inquire if he has the race tuner or power commander...

An 05 Road King should be a great bike. May need to be tweeked abit. I don't know if the price is good or not I deal in Canadian Dollars. If you go to the harley Davidson site and click on Genuine Accessories you can then click on Touring and then pick the bike and year.
If you register you can make a wish list, then go through the accessories and put the one the bike has on it in your wish list and it will give you a good idea what he has spent on add ons not including labour.
I just did this for my bike and I was very surprised how much the last owner had spent on it.

Not sure on the price but seems he has some money invested as the V&H's go for some decent cash. Some people don't like going to dealerships for performance issues so they go to a independent wrench..Nothing wrong with that. The bike is running lean which means he did the HD Download which is crap. If you decide to get the bike make sure to some type of programmer (SERT/PCIII etc.) and have it dyno TUNED, not just ran on a dyno as it seems most likely what he did. Sorry can't say anything about a "Chip".

True Duals helps with heat issues, but have been known to lose a lil bit of low end because of no backpressure.

Kelley Blue Book Values:$12,200Trade-in $16955 Retail So the price seems reasonable.
