My back was killing me on my 06 rkc, last month i put on a mustang one piece touring seat, raised me up and slid me forward a little, was way more comfortable than stock, on saturday my buddy gave me a drivers back rest (hd adjustable) rode home 90 miles from his house and had NO discomfort, felt like i was sitting in the bike with better control and more aggressive handling, never even felt any pain in the back, same for today, rode 220 miles and no pain.

Yep, you don't want to wear them all the time--only when your back is under stress--like riding bike or cutting firewood!

Is the RK seat similar to an EG seat? My EGC stock seat sort of has a little built in lower back rest/support where it steps down from the passenger part of the seat. Mind you I have a typical cops back after 14 years of wearing a gunbelt so belive me I sympathize with you. It may also be the handlebars putting you at an angle that the lower back doesn't work with. I recently had a bruised heel and wearing silicone gel lifts helped the heel tremendously but 3 days later my lumbar was crippling from the angle change. Sometimes you have to look beyond the obvious with lumbar pain.

One more vote for the backrest. Mine never comes off. Unbelievable difference . The regular HD backrest has a few different mounting positions, so you will find the right one and be comfortable, no need for the adjustable one IMO.
Throw the stock seat out, it is half your problem.

Mustang solo w/ adjustable backrest, pull back handle bars, Air hawk seat cushion. Ride 'til I decide to stop, not have to stop.

HD's come from the factory with everything sitting in a standard location. Floorboards are mounted in the same holes, Handlebars...yadda yadda. You get my drift.

These things don't account for a riders height. If you're 5'6" and the next man is 6'3"..of course they're not going to be comfy for someone. These scoots need to be personalized and all too often people don't take time to set their scoot up to their liking, they just hop on and ride.

You should take a day and set your scoot up to you. Change something, ride a little, if you like it, leave it...if not, change it again.

As far as seats go...I'm fond of my Mustang. It is true though...a firmer seat makes for a better ride.

For me changing the bars really helped I'm not slummped over like i was with the stock bars I'd check that out first then go with the back rest you can't lay back unless your bars are brought back right?? I have a 08SG and that was the best mod yet, well one of them was the bars

Good Luck
