If you buy the kit you won't have to go to NAPA for an adapter. You get everything you need. The wire they give you is extra long and you trim it to fit no matter how you route it. I routed mine along the clutch cable. It's clean enough IMO.

Here's the kit: http://www.speedsupplies.com/accesso....asp?item=6130

or here for a little less: http://www.amazon.com/RODGER-MCEWAN-.../dp/B000GVCEBG

Crankcase gauge is a waste of money and the time it takes to stick it in, but the fairing mount kit and do it yourself. Plenty of help right here, with pictures, do a search, and plug it into the bottomplenty of people willing to help you on line. It's so easy, just plug it into the bottom of your pan, it has an extra hole waiting on it. The hardest part is getting your big fingers into such a small hole inside the fairing, just take your time and have fun saving money. Think of the things you can add with the 4 hours of savings off the labor by the stealer, they are not called stealer's for nothing.

Installing an oil temp gauge is so simple even a caveman can do it--really, if you can change your oil and remove the outer fairing (seven T27 Torx screws), you can install the oil temp gauge.

I moved my voltmeter to the air temp hole, and mounted the oil temp gauge below the oil pressure gauge in the voltmeter hole. Probably added 10-15 minutes to the job, but makes it convenient to get both pressure and temp info in a glance.

If you don't have a NAPA store nearby, virtually every Ace/Home Depot/Lowe's etc. will have the 3/8" male NPT X 1/4" female NPT bushing you need.

I did the same thing. Easy job. I didn't even had to cut or splice any wires for either guage.

I have had the Rodger McEwan oil temp guage kit for almost a year now, all fittings and parts needed are in the kit. It was an easy install of < 1 hour. biggest items was fitting my large hands in the fairing to mount the gauge. Got mine at www.mawonline.com for ~$105

It costs a little more and I'd have to buy the crankcase fitting, but I'm thinking about going with the HD gauge to keep the look standardized. Thanks for convincing me to do this on my own.
