SERT vs. T-Max w/auto tune
maybe just mental patient
i dont know what slip-ons i have but i hate 'em.edit. the dyno guy is a big SERT fan.
Iinstalled mine a while back, now the bike jumps, sounds great, better throttle response, and no pinging or dyno. With any system you put in where you can adjust it, there is a learning curve with it, then you get to have the fun of playing around with it. I enjoy trying different things to see what I can get out of the bike as far as performance and economy, I can tune it to my spects and not anyone else's.
If I need to go back to the dealer for any reason, I pull the Tmax and put back in the ECM. For my money it was a Thundermax Auto-Tune, Zipper's is super at customer satisfaction also. I didn't buy mine directly from them, Phil at Zipper's said " not a problem, now how may I help you?"
I searched for months all over the forum, talked with anyone who would talk asking their opinion, and read all I could get my hands on anywhere about all the different tuners, the Tmax has been the best money I've spent so far.
Last thing I heard on the forum is Zipper's should have the Tmax ready for the 08 by or around April.Just my 2 cent worth, mind you, all the tuners have their good point and bad ones too, no one system is the magical cure all. It just depends on what you are looking far.
Good luck and be safe, hope this helps in some small way.
What you are doing is the best thing reasearch, more research. The best thing is.... as far as I am concerned there is no 1 correct finalize answer. What might work for me, is another person's receipe for diaseter.
Is there anybody out there that can provide a good argument that a SERT w/dyno tune would be a better choice than a T-Max w/auto tune for my 08 Ultra.
The bike is bone stock w/the exception on SE II race mufflers and a SE HF AC Kit.
This is the worst running bike I have ever owned and I am hoping to get big improvements with which ever route I decide to go with.
Comparative cost would be about the same....
I am leaning way over to the T-MAX and that is why I am just probing for anyone with a good reason why the SERT may be better.
Thanks in advance for all the input and advice.

great comments by many...ill add one more thought... if all you have is slip ons and filter, the sert comes with maps screamin eagle mods.... that would get you pretty close... then when you get some more ching, order up the HQ pro fueler... you now have a set up that will go as advanced as you want ....
when Kevin was tunning my scoot, i would take the scoot out for a ride, not hearing ANY ping!, when i got back the data logged on the run would SHOW exactly which cell had knock and how much was retarded... made me a believer...

The HQ ProTuner will extend the SERT capabilities by adding closed loop afr managment.
