I have a 2006 FLHTCI that I installed a fat cat 2 into 1 on last week. Today I got out to give it a run as it was 70 degrees here in upstate NY, and it was excellent to get out. While at my buddies having a beer, and looking at the pipe from a distance, it looked too low under the bag and angled down.
Here is my question - when installing the head pipes, there is a bolt mount that lines up with the mount installed on the tranny. My headpipe mount is UNDER the tranny mount, and I had to use the black spacers plus additional washers on the muffler on the bag mount rail. I think that maybe the head pipe mount should beOVER the tranny mount??????
Please help me with this one!!!!!!!
Also, I downloaded the Bassani Roadrage 2 into 1 map for my PCIII, as I could not find a map for my set up and a member here reccomended it until I can get it to the dyno. It ran very good with this map on my ride - no popping and good power, but I am looking for a custom map that someone may have for this set up - Stock 88, SE Air Cleaner, Stock ECM, FatCat pipe loud baffle. Does anyone have one they would share? I had a map sent to me from a member here, but it was for a set up with 25 degree injectors(not sure what this is)
When I did my Fatcat install, I didn't use any spacers under the saddlebag. My exhaust tab is on top of the tranny mount tab, and when looking at it from the side it is all very linear and follows the lines nicely.
I would say your map is as close as you are going to get without putting it on a dyno. The Road Rage is the only other 2-1 system with equal length header pipes........so you really are not that far off at all.
I would try starting from scratch again. I would just use the spacers that came with it, install everything loosely and then tighten from the back to front checking for clearance at cam cover and brake master cylinder as you go. I have installed two fat cats and one fit like a glove and the other fit like ****, just the luck of the draw I guess, good luck!
On most of them, the pipe tab goes UNDER the tranny bracket and I use the black spacers under the hanger. I have also a one or two that only fit OVER the tab & in that case I could not use the spacers.....
I think there was a change when the 07's came out & they had to make a new tranny bracket.
Let the pipe "hang" as it is, UNDER the tab and use the spacers. Then step back and take a real close look at the "line" of the head pipes and follow it back thru the muffler can. This imaginary line should be STRAIGHT, not angled up or down.
I think it was you maineultraclassic who originally suggested the roadrage map- thanks for that!
I think it was you kern that I got the maps from. (or someone you originally sent them to) I appreciate the link for the injectors, my bike is a late 2006 so I will check the injectors and go with the custom map you sent or made.
Phil- I have been following your build, and have now gained knowledge on HQ and will hopefully be doing a build next winter!!!! Great info and pic's!!!
Thanks again- the ride today was really needed up here in NY- it all goes down hill tomorrow!
Just installed a Boarzilla, basically a Fatcat on steroids. The tab went under the tranny mount with the spacer. Did not use any spacers at the rear mounts.
