Hardest decision I have ever made!!!!!! what are the pros and cons 113 or 103 I hate to spend the money on an 103 and then want a 113 but on the other hand I don't want it to be dangerous.
My main concern is reliability and I've heard so much about 07 cranks so if I go with 113 that would be fixed
I got a quote from a dealer that will do the HQ 113 using Darkhorse 4600.00 I don't have time or knowledge to do the 113, I could do the 103 myself maybe!!! Money is not the problem so guys give me the Pros and Cons of the builds I know I have ask several questions before but I'm learning this Harley crap on my own. I have already follow your advise on many projects without regret Philm,Dalton Redneck and tom73 and many others
Personally, if it were me I would do the 103 myself. Down the road with more mileage on when you have to go in the engine for something else, if you're not happy then do the 113. I'm not a speed demon, I just want good ol' grunt and dependability soI am going to do the 103 later on.
103 is the best bang for the buck, no replacement for displacement but you want reliability and not to break the bank. Go with the HQ 103 to address the pistons being down in the hole on the 96" motors.

if you're not happy then do the 113.
The only problem with that is that heads that are properly set up for a 103 may or may not be properly setup for a 113.
I had a great set of HQ heads on my 98" build, but I could not use them on my 120. That is not always the case, but certainly something to consider & check.
After rereading your MSG... That's a pretty darn good price for an HQ113 kit installed that includes a darkhorse bottom end!
Cirhere2: Do the 113" HQ build--it will be a precisely machined engine in every respect--there won't be a single mass-produced significant component in the build and no lingering concerns about the bottom end.
Given my riding style, I wouldn't worry about the 96 crank provided its runout was ok and I would go with the HQ 103 becausethe additional power (and it is considerable) available in the 113 wouldn't be worth the additional cost to me.
For 4600, you are getting a very good deal; so good I would have the dealer prepare a detailed bill of materials, including the HQ and Darkhorse parts and services) to avoid surprises.
