Default Yellow Jack

I just picked up the Craftsman Yellow motorcycle jack 1500lb. Got it mostly for work on the Quads but thought it might also work on the EG. Don’t really need the straps on the Quads but was wondering if anyone used them as outlined in the instructions, strapping over the seat to the jack base? Would have thought strapping it to the lift platform would be more desirable. Any comments?

The lift pads are just barely long enough for a touring frame, I added two stops on the ends for the pads so I know I am in position for the lift.

No, but I am very careful what and how I do anything while the bike is in the wind. Also be very careful as you would with any lift when you lower the bike. Practice with the quads several times so you know what you are in for.

I have a 2006 ultra. I use the straps secured to the jack base. I think it stabilizes the bike some. Anything I can do to make sure it doesn't fall over makes me feel better - it's probably not necessary but I use the straps anyway.

I use the straps due to my extreme paranoia

I run them from the base of the jack to the floorboard brackets.

I don't use the straps but I am very careful moving it or doing anything that can unbalance the bike (removing a wheel, saddle bags,etc...).

One trick I found... when tightening the handle, turn it until it just barely stops. When you let the bike down you don't have to overcome that initial resistance and you can gently lower the bike.

Do you think the locking latch works well? Seems a little lightweight top me.

Use the straps but don't just run them over the seat! Each strapneeds to be anchored to a point on the bike to the jack otherwise the bike can roll over under the straps.

Ride well,

Jim
