B=Balanced
Hence, the softail motor! Smooth idle, no shake at stoplights and I hated the fact that my brothers looked like a built 454 sitting at a stop light and mine looked like a honda civic. Although his motor mount wore out in 10K miles! But other than that it ran like a bat outa hell! My B motor that is!

The "B" motor is only found on the softail models.So no duty police bikes will have it.

When the bike starts up, or at idle, watch the football aircleaner. TC88's let the motor bounce around in the frame, rubber mounted. TC88B's will be steady. No shake or very minimal, internally balanced.

As was mention above, you'll only find them in the softtails.

Exactly....and when you have a 88B, you loose a bunch of HP due to the fact that the engine has to turn the balancer as well as everything else.[8D]

I don't know if it's strange or not, but I kind of like the shake, rock & roll of my "A" and the rubber mount engine is really smooth at high speed. I can glide along at 90 MPHand benice and stable.
