Anyone with experience with rental trailers? I would like to trailer my UC to FL in March. Not interested in buying one right now. Thanks in advance. John
I don't know about up there but if you can find somewhere to rent one it should not be a hard transaction just like renting anything else at least thats how it works here in Dallas. You should check your local craigs list or post on there when you need one and somone may reply to you willing to rent you their's for that same time frame.
Look at the trailer BEFORE you rent. Ideally you want one that has a good quality wheel chock that will hold your bike on it's own. Drive your bike up in to the chock, step off of it and then tie it down. A cheap front wheel chock or non at all is a bad idea, IMO.
If you just want a trailer to get it there, U-haul rents a 5x9 ramp trailer. Used it when I moved from Phoenix to Oregon and it worked fine. Rode the King right in, secured it and tossed an old blanket over it. If I remember right it was approximately $150.00 for thetrip. It's an open trailer so if you are looking for something to store or lock the bike in it wouldn't be a good choice.
I have used the U-Haul trailer for the trip once. Easy to use, had a tire blowout on the way home. UHaul came out and fixed it, but took a few hours. The trailer is easy to use as stated ride right in and tie it down chock is built into the trailer.
