Power Commander No Brainer
reading this thread, I have NOT set mine up correctly if I HAVE to hook up a 9v battery and do the throttle adjustment. One thing, I use a mac puter and will have to borrow someone's pc laptop. Until I do though I can live with a 10mph idle

later,
airdog
his laptop but not until Saturday when he's back in town.
Man, it's gonna be tough to wait all freakin' week..........
I gotta get me a laptop..... [sm=violin.gif]
I was on a recent cruise with Mike Roland of Kuryakyn. We spoke at length about various performance projects and he flat out preferred the Harley module over the PC versions. I was surprised at this and am not certain I fully understand why since I'm not a very good mechanic but he was clear in his opinion. IMO, the guy is a genius when it comes to Harley performance so I'll take his word.
The more you look around, the more you will find that there are about a million and a half different answers to the "What is the best fuel managment module?" question. You may be very correct in that Mike Roland prefers the SERT over others, as do some of my buddies. That does not make any one of the other units a "wrong" choice though.Nor does it make the SERT the absolute right choice for everyone.
Just like you figured out in making your decision for the SERT, you find that the correct answer is a truly personal choice based in funtion, intended use, upfront cost, ext cost, customer service, etc etc. I totaly beleive that He would pick the SERT, because it is, from what I have learned, an infinately adjustable unit, able to grow with anything put on the bike. It is also able to be fine tuned better than any other that I know of.
However, all that said, those may not be the points that all buyers are looking for. They may be looking for cost effiency, or plug and play, or not to have to use a Dyno at all, as in the case of the TMax.
I eventuay chose the PCIII because of the rave reviews that this specific package has been getting, in addition to the great service from Fuel Moto and the fantastic cost...the bang for your buck factor.
That was my choice. Good luck with your choice. Whatever it ends up being, I hope it is the right one for your application.
Bob, thanks for this info. I thought about asking Jaime about the leaner settings in the cruise range like you did on yours, then I thought I would rather get a set performance custom base map from him. Then, I was hoping to look you up later for the leaned out cruise range map? Maybe I could talk you into letting me borrow it? Without the onboard switch, couldn't I just change between the maps at home (on the laptop) as the seasons change? I won't have the cash for the switch, or oil cooler/guage setup for a little while.
I can't wait to get this.

No issues. Great power. No pinging or exhaust leaks (used high temp gasket on the slip ons). Did I mention great power? I don't know where my MPG's will land yet, but I'll worry about that later. I have no hesitation whatsoever, anywhere. Even on startup, I let the ECM cycle through and then hit the starter. Even with the computer delay, I only noticed one rotation before it fired right up and ran smooth. There has not been any coughing, or stuttering, or anything as of yet. The bike seems to just run wayyyy better. I have noticed that the right side header is much hotter now due to the pipe configuration. Watch your boots.
I really like the sound of the Rush custom slip ons. They are louder than my stock, but when cruising down the road, I don't hear them anymore than I did my stock mufs. This is nice because it does not affect my stereo sound. But, you jump on it and they really wake up.You hear avery nice, loud, aggressive rumble on acceleration. You do notice the right side sound more, also due to the muffler configuration. It's not at all anoying though.
I will continue to listen for any pinging and watch my MPG. But for now, I really like this setup. It is very clean, easy, affordable and powerful. Exactly what I was looking and hoping for.
(Bob, would now be a good time to try that leaner 20% map, before the temps get too high out here?)
Thanks all. Sorry to hijack this thread. I just wanted to update and add to the general topic withmy experience.

I'm sure most of this is child's play for most of you guys out there, but maybe I can help someone decide whether or not to do this themself, if they are unsure.
I skipped taking pics of some of the AC and PCIII install steps. It is all in the directions of the kits and is very straight forward.
Here are the two links. G'Luck!
