Default Help a guy decide...

A buddy of mine currently rides an 07 Street Bob, but lately he's been tempted by the touring models.

https://www.hdforums.com/m_2717450/tm.htm

Help him make the right decision.

BAGGERZ4LIFE!

I told him I wouldn't taunt/tease/goad him anymore, but I never said I wouldn't ask you guys to. /wink

Reading that link is good humor...https://www.hdforums.com/m_2717450/tm.htm I'm 38 and ride a touring bike and am loving it. I liked a few things better on my Deluxe, like the lower seat hight and the fact it had all the bells and whistles on it that I wanted. But now having been on my RKC, I wouldn't ride any other! Hell they think were driving a Desoto like MR. C, and their all Ralph Malph's hot roddin around in their convertibles. And when did a Road King suddenly weigh 850 lbs? Book says mine weighs 730ish. I look at it as my gain and my pleasure. I wouldn't mind having my Sporty back, but I never bashed a touring bike in favor of it. Just got smarter! Kinda like the 2 ft rule in boating. Buy one, and your nextone will be 2 ft bigger, and the next one 2 ft bigger......

They call it the King for a reason.

He'll never regret it.

Depends on what he is looking for. I had an '05 Road King Classic (RKC) and loved it for it's versatility. I'm now riding an Ultra because it better suites my overall needs now. There are many times that I do miss the RKC. The RKC was so versatile because the windshield is removable without tools and you can add a removable passenger backrest, removable luggage rack, and a removable tour pack. Since all these things are removable you can strip it down and ride it as a bar-hopper. Then when you get ready for a longer ride, throw the windshield back on and you won't be as tired at the end of the ride. The OL wants to go along, throw on the passenger back rest for her. Going on a tour and need extra storage, add a luggage rack or tour pack and you have dresser with plenty of storage space. You can change the bike from a stripped down bar-hopper to an all out dresser in less than two minutes without any tools. The only thing that you can't remove from the RKC and keep it looking good are the saddle bags (IMHO).

Operative word high-lighted for emphasis, because I'm pretty sure you just agreed to meet up after work to take my SG for a test ride.

Now's the time to do a deal if you're so inclined. Left over 07 stock + cold weather means good deals are very likely to be had.

Won't know until you swing by your dealer, now will ya? =)
