I'm glad to see these evaluations by riders. Nothing like getting straight scoop from a rider with ABS.

Locking the rear brake because the rider is not comfortable using the front? Just a reflex to hit the rear pedal instead of the hand lever? Just curious about the reply. My last bike could not be stopped quickly without using the front brake...if I had not learned to use the front brake early on I would probably not be here. That said, even though ABS feels weird in a car, and I'm sure it feels weird on a bike too, I believe it would be well worth the extra dough.

Lets all hope it's false security and never needed. I can't wait for the Harley roll cage option... or a big transparant bubble to ride in.
The debate will never end. We heard the same argument regarding seatbelts in cars and helmets. I'd be willing to bet that at least half of all motorcycle accidents where damage occurs to both rider and bike are caused by locking up the rear wheel and then releasing the rear brake. We saw plenty of that this past summer when we were getting 6 crash bikes in a week to try to fix (average repair time was 2 months before all parts were in and repairs were made). Now I'll stand back - have a nice day.

I state this from experience seeing wrecked bikes brought into the shop one after one this past summer. If you're experienced enough to grab the front brake for all it's worth in an emergency, you're among the few. Even then, it can lock up and make the situation unmanageable. Correct stopping requires the use of the rear brake and then the front brake. Under ideal conditions, that's the way most of us are taught. I speak of an emergency when you see someone within 20 feet while you're trying to stop - in may never happen - only happened to me once in 15 years - I high sided (old bike years ago). Oh well - been fun, but, the thread is getting a little out of hand. Hate to see the name calling - thought we were a bit above that - mature adults and all that. 'Nuff said...

For all of those who like to try and insult or put others down, and for those who think they have superior riding skill or have been riding a life time and can predict all road hazzards. Try dodging a 50lb dog that runs into the street, get hit by a carand gets trown in front of you going 40mph; those are the times when ABS can save your tail.
If you dont have it, dont knock it, if you dont like dont buy it!!!!!!
