Trying to figure out if you are talking about the 1st and 5th gear whine, and the awfull chatter/chirping yo get from the rear end in low to mid RPM roll-ons...Read about IDS. Do a search on it and you should be able to narrow down what you are hearing and thinking.
My recomendations are if you truly like the bike but don't like the noise, do two things before trading it in. Go with full syns in all three holes and think about doing the labor yourself. I use Mobil1 V-Twin 20/50 in case, Mobil1 Racing 4T in Primary, and Mobil1 75/90 gear oil in the trans. There are a million other suggestions of oils. Really any syns will be better than not. These are just my choice.
Then order up the IDSkit from Zannotti's HD (#40287-07)at a discounted price of around $228 shipped with bearing pressed. Again, do this yourself if you can. You will save money on labor and lear about your bike in the process. Otherwise, have the shop do these. Both will greatly improve your ride quality and be better for your drivetrain in the long run.
Or...if you are truly not happy with the bike, then you make that decision on what will make you happy.
I'll tell you though, my '07 had that bad chatter. The IDS and the syns were a huge improvement for my bikes overall ride quality. Would not think of trading it in now.
Sorry did not want to hijack your thread ..color is all in the eye of the beholder .As far as your tranny noise I went with 85w-140 Belrey because that is what I could find locally, dumped the Harley stuff it is too thin in my opinion.Tranny noise is gone, shifting is easier, and neutral is where it should be. Now I can here my front brake noise sounds like crickets, then when you go in to a turn it seems to develop a whine from what I believe is tire noise. I do not know what weight of magic juice to remedy this nor where to put it
Sorry I mis understood your post, yes they are a great ride. I don't particularly care for the copper top looking colors, but my wife loves it. Thats why they make so many colors, something for everyone. Likes been said before, it's not hard to do at all, get your manual out and locate the transmission drain plug. Drain that garbage out of it and put a good gear oil in it. Mobile 1 makes good stuff. I've got the heaviest in mine and it quieted mine down a lot. others swear by redline shockproof.. it it was available locally I'd buy it and give it a try.
The 105th anniversary colors are the only reason I bought a new 08 UC, to me its about the best color combination I've seen in a long time. Others don't like it, I don't care, I bought my bike for me, not to please someone else.
