I bought a drink holder at my local dealer (American H-D in Ann Arbor, MI.) called a Hog Trough. It consists of locking doors for both UC fairing lowers with the left one haveing a stainless steel bracked for the bottle. It also comes with an insulated cup. This keeps it away from most of the heat. The ones that mount on the rear engine guards allow the water to get really hot from the engine/exhaust heat blowing on them. It is kind of expensive, but works much better than the rear crash bar mounts. If you figure the cost of the locking doors into it, it isn't too bad. check it out at hogtrough.com see ya Ken

I've used cruzer-kaddy(sp) from sponsor on this site. It mounts to your handlebars and will hold most of the normal water bottles you buy at store. Weird thing is when bottle is full, most of weight is on top and it cause it to tilt. Takes some getting used to.

Others have mounted similar devices on their bikes and will chime in eventually.

The one thing I've always wondered about the water bottle holder from H-D you're looking at is that since it is right over the exhaust, the water might get a little warm(unless you're running 2-1 exhaust eliminating the left pipe). Others can voice their opinions on this.
For about $15.00 at Walgreens you can buy a stainless steel thermos that fits right into the pouch on the HD leather waterbottle holder. It will keep liquid cool all day in spite of the exhaust system.

Well, the picture did not appear in my post with the same quality it had in my computer but you get the idea. I have one for each side for long distance on a hot day and I fill them with Gatorade. I usually have to refill at least one bottle at every gas stop.
What I didn't say was that the reason I have to refill at every gas stop is that I will have drank at least a thermos full in between stops on a hot day. The liquid stays cold all day in the stainless thermos. I do not even put ice in the Gatorade if the one I buy at the gas station is cold.

Do you have to stop to open and drink from the Thermos?

Also... a 20 oz bottle will fit between your handlebar and fairing without a holder...

Put it on the left side.. slide it between the bar,, and the fairing.. and rest the bottom on the left speaker housing..

Works perfect for the driver...

Dawg, I use almost the same one, got it from JP Cycles for about $20 bucks. Word of caution, dont ride with an open soda can in the handlebar holder at above about 40mph. The air rushing over the top of the can creats a venturi effect and a low pressure area immediately above the can, in other words, it sucks the soda out of the can and blows back onto the rider and passenger.

Dont ask me how I know.[:@]

Hey Dawg, hows come no fairing mount mirrors? I would never go back to the ones on stalkes, too much vibration.

I have a brand new take off flhx fairing to paint, but the bars I have wouldn't allow me to see so I put black mirrors on for now.
