Default blue *****

Got you to look but theses could have been bad. Yesterday I took my cams still in the plate to the dealer to look at the cam lobes they looked like they were going through the hard coating so we changed them out. When they pressed out the cam with the roller bearing the outer race showed blueing you would see with heat. Thank you all with the tensioner post as the inner on had a corner broke off all this at 30k miles.I know they upgrade the outer bearings what about the the ones in the plate? thanks

Do you mean the inner bearings in the case? If so yes, they would probably install new bearings, but if it's a HD dealer that you brought it to then it will be the INA's that they put back in and not the Timken full compliment B-148's. The outer bearings are the ones that go in the cam plate.

If so, while you are that far down make sure you replace the inner bearings in side the case....For my part it is a no brainer it whould have to be done for my peice of mind... Just my 2 cents good luck what ever you do...

http://www.automotivemachine.com/These guy's rent the tools or if you have a Harbor Freight near you you can buy a blind bearing puller for around $40 and a bearing driver for around $10 and you are on your way, using the shrink to fit method by placing the new bearings in the freezer and tapping them in....If you are any kinda wrench at all you can do the job very easily.... Good luck with it J.R. Here is a post that might help ya....
