anyone here do the SE slip ons on the rk? I went that route with the download, and I was just wondering as spring seems to be taking its sweet A$$ time getting here, are you happy with the sound? I am not looking for super loud, and for warrentee purposes I wanted to keep it all Harley. I do not trust my dealer as far as I can throw them. Are they louder than the stock? They were much louder on my 1200, but some say they are louder on the 1200 than the 96...
The new SE slip ons perform, but are not much louder than stock. Supertrapp, who used to make the old Harley SE slip on's, still sells them as Supertrapp SE (Super Elite) they have interchangeable tips. Rush mufflers are also nice, get the 1 3/4 baffle if you want it slightly louder than stock. Rush also has inter changeable tips. Don't know if you want to take my word for it, I am a dealer employee.
I put them on my '07 Ultra. Not alot louder than stock, just deeper and throatier, and I really like the way they sound rolling off the throttle. I wanted a little louder than stock, but not real loud, and these are pretty close to exactly what I was looking for.
I agree, the SE's are one of the better pipes to help get your numbers up, but they are quiet (which is exactly what some people are looking for). On the other hand, that's the biggest complaint that we get at the shop, someone forks over the money and they want sound AND performance, but it doesn't happen. If you want both, imho, there are only two brands that do it....Bub (either the Rineharts or the new 7's) or Vance and Hines.

Thank you! That is what I was hoping to hear. My buddy has an '05 Rk, and he swears he put the SE's on and did the stage 1, but I think he is full of it, or they took his money, cuz he aint got the take offs, and they do not say SE any where on them. His A/C looks right though, but his is quiet, too quiet. I heard a stock 08 96 big twin at the dealer, and it did not sound all that bad. Every one says they do not sound "much" louder, but that is what I was looking for. They are indeed, louder...
Now has anyone had any issues with the ECM download running too lean? poping?
The 1200 is louder because the Sporty has a higher compression ratio. Also Kerker is the company that use to make the SEs for Harley but you are also correct when you say Supertrappe be cause Kerker was bought out by Supertrappe a few years ago. In my opion and that of our Dyno tech you will get better performance but not much better and as others have said they are not much louder. They look better than any though because the new SEs are 4 inch mufflers.
