5'10", and I have a 9 1/2 inch recurve, which replaced the stock HD 12 incher.
I can see over it, and there is more quiet air. Pricey, but you won't be dissappointed. The light smoke version, is lightly tinted enuff, that nite time riding is not an issue.
I can tell you that the 9.5 inch Recurve is actually 2 inches taller than the 8 inch Fastaire when mounted. This was measured from the gas cap lock. Just FYI. I love my 9.5 Recurve. I got my seat raised 1.5 inches. I does not look out of place or giant on the SG.
I'm 6'5" and have an 8" recurve, plenty of "quiet" air, I actually think I could have gone with a 6" or 7" and been ok. Here's a couple pic the wife is 5'5". Hope this helps
Where does the wind hit your head/helmet? I have the 8" recurve and I'm 7" shorter than you, and was toying with buying a 6.5" for most riding. Would probably use the 8" for touring only, as I look just above it when I use the backrest (not always). When not it is a tad too tall. Do you wear a helmet and if so does the wind cause it to buffet? I know the wind must be hitting you right at the forehead.
I 5" 11" and have an 8" recurve on my 07 SG. It stopped all helmet buffeting. After getting seat lowered by Allan, I cut 1-1/8th" off the bottom and now it is perfect. I can see over it for good visibility and get down behind it if the weather turns. Mines from www.fastaire.com. Have over 10K miles on it.
