Does anyone know how many labor hours it would take to: 1) Lower the frontend on a '07 RKC; 2) replace the frontend with chrome; 3) Swap out the bars, controls, mirrors, with chrome and replace all the lines with braid, and 4) add the IDS? Thanks.
Please re-read my question. I said - chrome & lower the frontend- upper & lower forks, replace all controls, bars, mirrors, grips, switches w/chrome and braided lines for brake, throttle & clutch. And, add the IDS. So, if a dealer just charged me approx. 16 hrs. for labor you would consider that a bit much?
Most repair shops charge by theflat rate. That mean regardless of how long it actually takes they have a fixed rate to charge. So they take each of your requests and get a hour rate. But what sucks if something goes wrong they often charge more. If somthing goes very well, they keep the profit. It seems unfair, but I am not sure what would bemore fair. Doctors do the same thing. Not many shops get rich on labor. It is the parts and accessories that pay the bills.
WOW...16 hours they could pretty well dismantle the entire bike apart & put it back together...including a big bore. FYI...a competent tech can do a Road King front fork job in 1 hour.
2) replace the frontend with chrome;
Around 4 Hours
3) Swap out the bars, controls, mirrors, with chrome and replace all the lines with braid
Depends on do you want to run the wires inside. If so, budget about 8 hours.
