Just booked my hotel for Laconia for the last weekend. It was not easy. Every friggin hotel was booked. Never had this much trouble in the past. Every year I swear that I would never go back and I always end up back ....go figure. I am 5 for 5 with picking the wet weekend to go so if anyone wants to go, just go up the first weekend..I am sure it will be dry, warm and sunny.
I've gone from taking the whole week off and going over almost everyday............to just taking a couple of days off and just hitting the area for 1 day.
It's really gone downhill in the past few years..............the town/state has turned it into a family type country fair. No more big builders go, not many big name vendors, and the prices are just crazy now.
Its nice riding up there. I really do not much time at Weirs Beach. Your right, how many T shirts do you need. I usually go to the rally for a few hours, hit the Broken Spoke for a quick beer and then spend the remaining time riding. I just like the whole idea of packing up the bike and riding300 miles with a large group. Just really getting sick of riding in the rain. I am literally 5 for 5 for choosing the wrong weekend.
I usually ride down on the last sunday with some friends and we have lucked out a couple times with riding wet roads, but only being rained on while walking around....always seems like it down pours not a simple sprinkle. There is usually four of us so we will each pick a shirt a get one of those last day 4 for $30 or the ocassional 4 for $20 deal, which is part of the reason to go on the last sunday. Last year I finally got wednesday off and went to the hill climb. POURED all day, but still really enjoyed myself, but seems I missed the good climbs as they changed to a much less steep hill.
Perfect? The first Sat there was a Nor' easter that I rode in all the way to Laconia. It then rained Sun at about 6 pm. The next rain was sometime Monday night.
