....I'd definately stick with a Touring bike...BUT....I wouldn't buy Brandy-New...too much of a hit on resale these days...now it's no different than cars in terms of the re-sale beatin...in fact it's worse because most people don't run out and spend 10K on aftermarket crap for their car in the first year the way we maniacs do...so we take a bigger loss percentage wise in re-sale...I will from now on buy 2-3 year old low mileage chrome-barges for 30% less than new...plus most things done to the bike are probably what I would've done...so I save even more...a little off-topic, but what-the hell...

Had a VTX 1300 before getting my Electra Glide Classic. I have basically turned it into an Ultra.

I will just get the Ultra Classic next time.

I do several long trips a year and the weather protection of the fairing and radio amenities are nice.

I purchased an 07 SG in Oct 06 --- 15000 miles later not one problem --- If I could do it all over again I would get a UC and take a lot of stuff of it and make it a UC/SG.

I have a Street Glide and I love it. I use the stereo all the time but I didn't think is was loud enough on windy days, I bought the amp and speakers from Hogtunes what a great investment that was. Took the bike to sturgis last year it was so much better having the stereo, plus the bike was very nice no butt pains. I would buy another one with out thinking twice.

Once you own a Electra Glide, no matter what model, you'll never want want to ride anything else!

Buying my SG is one of the best things I've done in a long time. Liked the radio so much I added an amp and more speakers.
Would buy another in a heart beat.

My hubby traded his Heritage Softail in for a Street Glide last year. Although, he absolutely loved his Heritage, he opted for the frills (ferring, hard bags & trunk, tunes, gatchets, etc). He had some work done to the motor, so it's not like comparing apples to apples. He loves the increased power.

I have driven it, and yes it certainly has some perks ... but I would have a really tough time trading my Fatboy in on one of those. He has been trying to talk me into doing just that since he ordered his so we could carry more stuff when we travel. Pffffttt!

Son trade in his 06 1200XL for a touring bike - 07 EGC - wanted a ride for long trips - Sportster was too hard a ride for him. Put the low profile shocks on the back to enable him to be more flat footed when stopping.

Wow.. you're too big a guy to be riding that Sporty.. You'll love the extra room to stretch out and be comfortable on the touring bike. Doesn't matter what one you get, coming from the Sportster you'll love it.

I went for the EGC for my money, but to each his own. I just felt the EGC was a good value and your get a lot for your buck on that one.
