Having a radio for tunes or talk/info/news is invaluable. I commute daily on my bike and being able to hear the traffic or weather reports is nice, plus the obvious enjoyment of AM/FM/XM radio, etc.

Different windshields are easily swapped on the bike. I like mine fairly low and it still gives me plenty of protection year around.

The storage space is beyond words! My tourpackhas the quick detachable mount. I've got it off the bike most of the time, but when it comes to a road trip believe me it's on there and much appreciated.

Comfort? HA! It's no problem to log a 15 hour day on the Electra Glide. I've done it twice - 827 miles once and another trip 742 miles. Not many bikes would be fun to do that on...

I am doing it again right now, pick up my new Street Glide Sat.Had a 05 Ultra that I had to sell last summer when I was diagnosed with cancer. Its more than just the radio and fairing, the Electra Glide series of bikes are just so comfortable you just want to keep riding.
One thing,if you like your Sportster don't get rid of it,still have my 01 1200 and I love it,perfect bike for backroads early on a Sunday morning, here is a pic of mine, first ride in October after treatment,so weak only made it 40 miles but it was great to be back on a bike.

I recently went from an '07 Fat Boy to my '08 Electra Glide. I have no regrets and, yes, I'd do it again.

I am looking at a touring bike either a RK or a Streetglide. I like the idea of having a stereo on the bike. Do you use your stereo alot? Do you wish you had purchased something different? Do you like being able to take off the windshield?
In 1998, I bought a 1500 Goldwing, my first bike with tunes. I haven't bought a bike since that didn't have tunes, or tunes available. My BMW R1150RT has the optional factory tunes, and of course the SG has tunes.

I love tour oriented bikes, I like bags that hold things, I like the comfort, and you really don't give up all that much sportieness (is that a word?). Once you learn to deal with the weight, it is no problem. I used to take my suspension modified Goldwing to Deals Gap and pummell the squids on sportbikes with it, it was FUN. Once I get fully used to the SG, I want to take IT to the Gap and start pummelling squids. I like playing Queen We Will Rock You, those guys freak and look back at you, wondering who the sick fast crazy dude on the bagger is.....

As far as windshields, unless I'm missing something, the bagger windshields are not quick release...

Going to anything in the Glide family will be a big improvement in comfort and storage. I think the SG will end up being a better fit for you over the Sporty. I agree with most here who have said once you have the tunes and comfort there's no lookin back. A good addition is the cruise control and with the TBW in 08 I think the cruise price has come down at your local Stealer!
Good Luck,
Mr_Bill
